About Us
Asian Formula Speed Sports Silambam is a pioneering initiative created to transform the traditional martial art of Silambam into a modern, structured, and globally recognized sport.
After 10 years of research, innovation, and dedicated effort, this concept was developed by Mr. Powerbala (Dr. S. Balasekar Asaan). Later, in collaboration with Dr. K. Kumar Asaan and a collective of over 50 masters (Aasaans), our organization was formally established.
Our mission is to elevate Silambam from its current status as a cultural and traditional martial art into a competitive sport aligned with international standards and Olympic-level concepts.

Our Concept
Traditionally, Silambam has been practiced as a cultural and heritage martial art. However, it has not yet gained sufficient international recognition, and its global reach remains limited.
Asian Formula Speed Sports Silambam introduces a new concept:
Transforming Silambam into a competitive sport based on Olympic-style speed disciplines
Developing standardized formats similar to racing and time-based sports.

Currently, more than 55 masters from 11 districts across Tamil Nadu are associated with our organization.
